The Full Story

Wendy has been practicing law in New York since 1999, specializing in matrimonial law. She has been recognized for her dedication to providing access to legal services, including receiving the Thomas Maligno Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. Motivated by a desire to make a difference, Ms. Hamberger pursued a legal career to help individuals in need. In 1994, she chose CUNY Law School for its commitment to "Law in the Service of Human Needs," while also earning a master's degree in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She was admitted to the New York Bar in 1999 and began her career as an Associate at Levitan and Pardes, PC, under the mentorship of retired Nassau Supreme Court Justice Sondra Pardes. Wendy has served as pro bono counsel for the Nassau Suffolk Law Services Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP), passionately representing clients in matrimonial and guardianship cases. She played a key role in establishing the VLP’s Uncontested Matrimonial Law Initiative, aimed at assisting clients seeking divorce but unable to afford an attorney. Her commitment to helping low-income residents of Island earned her the title of "Pro Bono Attorney of the Month" in January 2015 and the Nassau County Bar Association Pro Bono Attorney of the Year in 2019. In 2016, Wendy founded a low-bono law firm to fill the gap in legal services for those with limited means. Her firm primarily assists clients who earn too much for pro-bono help but not enough to afford a traditional law firm. At The Law Office of Wendy E. Hamberger, you can feel secure and confident that your case is in capable hands. Contact us today — we look forward to assisting you.
